Hossack & Associates Architects (HAA) is a GTA-based full-service architecture practice that has specialized in K-12 school projects of all types and sizes for over 20 years. The firm is a 14-person, stable and well-managed firm, owned by shareholding employees, licensed to practice in Ontario. The professional staff at Hossack & Associates is a close-knit team of talented Architects, Technologists and Administrators, all of whom have specific experience in educational projects of varying sizes. Together, they hold a wealth of design, project management and technological experience.

Owing to these attributes of stability, depth-of-firm, special expertise and diverse experience the firm is now regarded as one of the leading Architects in Ontario in the design of new schools and school renovations and additions. In addition to the K-12 ‘market’, Hossack & Associates has completed several projects for a range of municipal sectors such as the Region of Peel and the municipalities of Oakville and Mississauga and post-secondary institutions such as Sheridan College and the University of Toronto.

The company relies on ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System (QMS) normally found in tightly organized manufacturing facilities as well as building information modeling (BIM) to eliminate problems before they arise in the field. At the same time, the firm has put an emphasis on incorporating energy-conscious, “sustainable design” features into its projects while meeting tight construction costs constraints put on educational institutions.

Along with our ISO standardization system, we put a heavy emphasis in BIM (Building Information Modeling). BIM, using Autodesk’s most current REVIT software, has helped us improve design visualization and coordination of the delivery of projects.

B.Arch., OAA, MRAIC. As senior principal, Peter acts as senior coordinating Architect and Principal-in-Charge. He is an experienced Team Leader with 30 years of architectural experience focusing on Educational Facility projects. His expertise in project management and consultant coordination on complex educational facility projects of all types and sizes has gained him a solid reputation for dedicated, diligent and expert project management. Peter’s has strong managerial skills, a detailed technical knowledge and a keen sense of integrated design solutions that involve a full understanding of the civil, structural, mechanical and electrical technical aspects of the project gained from experience in many complex multi-million dollar, multi-disciplinary projects.

Priscilla Ladouceur

B.E.S., B.Arch., OAA, MRAIC. Priscilla is a co-owner and Principal of HAA and has 20 years of architectural experience designing and managing educational focused projects. Since first joining Hossack & Associates Architects in 1995, Priscilla has been involved in all of the firm’s major projects including new buildings, additions, interior renovations, feasibility studies and master planning. Priscilla brings exceptional design problem solving and team coordination skills to each project. Priscilla is an alumni of Skills Canada, having won provincial and national competitions in architecture at a young age, and now lends her time mentoring high school students in skills trades and young women as a career coach. “Educational design is a passion of mine. The scholastic experience in these early years can have such a huge impact on each child’s path in life. I feel that the power of the built environment and its effect on people’s well-being should not be underestimated.”

Steven Terra

B.Arch.Sci., M.Arch, OAA, MRAIC. Steven Terra joined Hossack & Associates in 2002 and currently has a combined 15 years of experience in both the construction industry and architectural practice, with a focus on educational facility projects. Steven’s main focus in all office projects is in the Contract Document and Contract Administration Phases. His considerable construction knowledge, plus his technical skills in Architectural Contract Documentation are applied to the firm’s projects to ensure quality control, thorough documentation and construction logic. Steven is the firm’s lead on-site contract administration representative on projects ranging from $10M to $27M. It is this exposure and depth of construction knowledge that informs our contract documentation detailing, process and quality control.
