Snyder Architects Inc. is a full-service planning and architecture firm located in Toronto. Established in 1980, the firm specializes in designing schools, long term care homes, and other supportive environments.

School design: We believe schools are places of community, dignity, meaning and academic excellence through sustainable design, flexible spaces, an emphasis on student engagement and the creation of holistic learning environments that support creativity and innovation. The firm’s extensive design capability is complemented by highly efficient delivery and implementation, strengthened by the firm’s pioneering construction management process called AMP (Architect Managed Project) delivery–successfully employed on one-third of Snyder’s educational projects– which gives clients maximum value and control of both schedule and budget.

Doug Snyder has dedicated his life’s work to architecture within the social agenda. He’s been engaged in the design and implementation of over 100 School Projects and 60 Long Term Care Communities. He believes Architects not only need to be leaders of vision and take responsibility for their commissions, but that they must communicate that vision to, and lead those who build.

Avi plays a leading role in designing quality educational environments that support academic excellence. Having also worked in Singapore and India, Avi brings extensive experience in managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams over multiple phases of complex projects. Recognized for his leadership and listening skills, Avi has developed a unique understanding of the various concerns of the multiple stakeholders often involved in complex projects. He ensures that appropriate sustainable design strategies not only inform all of his projects but are also directly responsive to the unique needs of each project.

Anil Gokarn

Anil Gokarn is a seasoned Project / Construction Manager and Contract Administrator. As a Principal of the firm, Anil combines a tremendous amount of construction management experience with his architectural knowledge, ensuring that the client goals as manifested in the design intent are never lost in the construction phase. His excellent communication skills contribute to his strength in consensus building, negotiating and team building. He has been engaged on more than 100 projects since joining the firm.
